According to residents in the area, the Nigerian soldiers battled for more than an hour with thousands of Shiite Muslims, leaving many injured.
Premium Times gathered from eyewitnesses that shootings started after the soldiers restricted the procession of the group, around the Sabon-gari area of the town.
Though details of the clash are still sketchy, but residents told newsmen that the gunfire that lasted about an hour.
One resident said he saw five bodies taken away from the scene of the shooting.

“I can’t really ascertain what happened, but I saw five unidentified corpse taken away from the scene,” the resident, a Shiite Muslim, said.
Another witness said the incident occurred when military personnel tried to force their way through the crowd of Shiite followers.
“Mahmood, one of Shiekh Ibrahim El-Zakzaki’s son is shot and the second son Ahmed was arrested and taken away by the security. Mahmood is however, not dead,” a witness, Musa Ali, said.

Military Men Arrest Suspected Kaduna Bomber
A bomber, who is allegedly connected with the Kaduna explosion, which targeted a former military ruler of Nigeria General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), has been arrested.

According to a statement that was released on the Nigerian Military website, the suspected bomber was dressed as a woman, clad in a female garb and brazier, thereby deceiving everyone who comes around him. He was, however, arrested by the patrol team that came to the location of the explosion almost immediately.

It was reported that the suspected bomber was caught while trying to walk away by mixing with the crowd of people who were shocked by the explosion.
If not for the swift attention of the military men, he would have been mobbed by the youths in the area.
Currently the bomber is being interrogated by the security agencies.
It would be recalled that the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria made it known that the intent of the architect of the twin blasts in Kaduna on Wednesday was to trigger civil unrest in the country.
