Pepe Mel, the new manager of West Bromwich Albion, is looking forward to his first match in charge when his club hosts Everton on Monday in England’s Premier League.
What he perhaps did not bargain for is the continuing controversy over a gesture made by Nicolas Anelka after he scored a goal against West Ham United on Dec. 28. The gesture, called a quenelle, was performed by Anelka when he placed his right hand on his left arm in what some people have called an anti-Semitic salute. The quenelle was invented by thewho last week had his performances banned by a French court for mocking the Holocaust.

The English Football Association, if any, to take against Anelka. The delay in a decision comes against a backdrop of increasing awareness of racism in European soccer. The Kick It Out anti-racism group said that it was “very frustrated” with the time the F.A. has taken to reach a decision.
A spokesman for the club told Reuters that “West Bromwich Albion will be making no further comment until the Football Association has concluded its investigation and the club its own internal inquiry into the matter.”
Zoopla has been West Brom’s jersey sponsor since 2012. The deal is to expire at the end of the season.
After the uproar set off by Anelka’s gesture, the 34-year-old French striker said he would not perform it again, but he also did not apologize for his actions.
Richard Garlick, the club’s technical and sporting director, told The Daily Express: “There are investigations ongoing. While they are ongoing, we won’t make any comment. People can speculate that there is a turn of events where we might be two strikers down. It would help everyone for that investigation to be over as soon as possible. The F.A. have given their statement about how quickly they will do that.”
West Bromwich recently sold striker Shane Long to Hull.

Woman slumps, dies in Governor Aliyu’s office

In an attempt to see the Niger State governor, Dr. Babangida Aliyu in his (Aliyu) office in Minna, a woman identified as Hajiya Bilkisu Mahmoud on Monday slumped and died. Her death has been attributed to delay on the part of the protocol officers who failed to make it possible for her to see the governor on time, as she had to wait for several hours before been allowed into the governor’s office.
Report says the 46-year- old woman had slumped three minutes after she was allowed into the governor’s office.
In an attempt to revive her, she was rushed to the Minna General Hospital in a Government House Ambulance, but was later confirmed dead by the doctors who attended to her.
The late Bilkisu, before her death, was suffering from asthma and was also a former Staff Officer to the Deputy Governor.
Sources from the Government House, Minna, said the deceased’s name was not on Monday visitor’s list, as she was only paying a private visit to the governor.
The mother of three was a staff of the State Emergency Management Agency before her death.
Governor Aliyu is yet to make any official statement regarding the incident.
However, DailyPost has gathered that arrangement towards Bilisu’s final interment has already commenced.

Super Bowl 2014: Rapper Lil Wayne has a great story about Peyton and Eli Manning

Lil Wayne is not exactly the guy you would think of in the same story as Eli and Peyton Manning.
Well, welcome to Super Bowl week.
The Louisiana rapper recently spoke with , sharing a story he once heard about the legendary work ethic of Peyton Manning -- and his little brother Eli.
“I have a story about Peyton. A guy who has been on the road with us, he was like an uncle to us, he told us this story. When he was in jail, about to come home, he was put on one of those work-release things in New Orleans. Every morning, real early, he would clean the schoolyard of the (Isidore) Newman School (where the Manning kids attended). Because he was a prisoner, he would have to clean the schoolyard at 4 or 5 in the morning. There was not one morning, 4:30, 5 in the morning, he wouldn’t see Archie, Peyton, Cooper, or Eli out on the field. He’d see Archie throwing passes to Cooper, or Peyton throwing routes to Cooper. I don’t know if people know this, but it was Cooper who was the prodigy. He [the roadie] would tell us the story, you know, like it was destined.”
Cooper, who many believed would play in the NFL as a wide receiver, had to quit the game when he was diagnosed with a spine condition.
Lil Wayne also offered his opinion on the player everyone is talking about leading up to the game -- Seattle Seahawks' cornerback Richard Sherman.
“To me, the Richard Sherman thing … I think he does it, I don’t want to say for attention, I don’t believe it’s for attention, but I believe there is a technique to what he is doing. It all of a sudden doesn’t seem so natural. It seems like it used to be Richard Sherman loves to trash talk, but now, it’s kind of a technique. Not natural. I’ve seen people go back at him, and when they tell him something back or he gets his face busted, there’s no more barking. That tells me, I’m really not like this, I’m really not aggressive. I think it’s Richard Sherman mouthing off … I know the media likes to say he’s backing it up with his play. Well, Richard Sherman comes from the same place I come from, the street, and he’s doing a lot of talking where he really can’t back it up. I think he’s a shutdown player. But a great player? No. Great? I don’t think he’s a great player. Now if he plays great against Peyton, that will be huge. If he performs tremendously, that will [change things].”
Saying Sherman isn't great? Lil Wayne might have just given the cornerback fuel for another rant.

Amaechi To Jonathan: Stop Pitching Christians Against Muslims

Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State on Thursday maintained that he, along with other G5 governors, who defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, will not return to the Peoples Democratic Party.

Amaechi explained that their defection to the APC was not basically because of the former PDP Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who recently threw in the towel, but as a result of President Goodluck Jonathan’s refusal to address issues of constitutionalism and accountability.
He stressed that the only way to address such issues was through Nigerians and not President Jonathan.
Amaechi, who is the chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum spoke on Thursday when Knights and Ladies of St. John International, Port Harcourt Grand Commandery paid him a solidarity visit in Government House.
He said, “The reason we broke away from PDP and joined the APC is not basically because of Bamanga Tukur. Bamanga Tukur is not the big issue.  There were issues we raised before the President and he has not addressed them.
“He (President Jonathan) said oh! I have removed Bamanga Tukur, so, you people can come; come to do what? There are other issues; there are issues of constitutionalism.
“There are issues of accountability, we raised them before Mr. President and those issues have not been addressed and we think that the only way to address them is through you Nigerians. The President is not our problem; we are our own problem”.
Assuring his visitors that the APC would restore sanity to the country’s polity, the governor urged Nigerians to vote out the PDP in the 2015 general elections.
Amaechi explained that the APC would not be a religious party, even as he lampooned those attempting to fan the embers of religious crisis in the country ahead of the next elections.
He added that leadership transcended religion and ethnicity, saying, “Don’t let anybody confuse you, they have been going from church to church, telling you it is Christians versus Muslims. No! The money they are stealing does not have Christian or Muslim emblem.
“So, it is not Christ versus Mohammed.  They are using that to hoodwink you to continue to siphon our resources.  Their wives are building houses all over, hotels all over and we are watchi

Ministers With Political Ambitions Should Resign – President Jonathan

    President-Goodluck-Jonathan1-360x225
President Goodluck Jonathan may have given ministers who have political ambitions to resign voluntarily latest by first week of February.
It was gathered  from a very competent source in Abuja on Monday, that most of those affected  are ministers who plan to contest governorship elections in their states.
The source, who added that Jonathan was mulling a cabinet shake-up in February, however,  said the minister had not resigned  because they  were not  sure that they would get the governorship   tickets in their states.
He said, “The President cannot wait endlessly for them. That is why he has given them the directive to resign voluntarily between now and February. Definitely, there will be further changes in the cabinet.”
The source, who asked not to be  named, did not say when the President ordered the ministers with political ambitions to quit.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Navy-Cpt. Caleb Olubolade (retd.) is eyeing the Peoples Democratic Party ticket for the Ekiti State governorship election  in June  this year.
Others   who are eyeing   governorship seats   are the  Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku (Nasarawa);  the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Godsday Orubebe (Delta),  and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed (Bauchi).
Our source   explained  that the impending cabinet shake-up   would  see some  of the  current ministers   dropped.
It was gathered on Monday that the  exercise  would take place after  the ministerial nominees  would  have resumed work  after being cleared by the Senate. Their screening begins this week.
The  Presidency source  explained that  the  ministerial nominees  would  fill existing vacancies in the cabinet.
He said, “The cabinet shake-up will definitely be in two phases. One was the one we witnessed in September 2013. The list before the Senate is meant to fill the current vacancies in the cabinet.
“What is clear is that by the time those ones are cleared and they resume work, more ministers will still be asked to leave.”
When asked if the embattled Minister of Aviation,  Ms Stella Oduah, would be dropped, our source replied, “What I don’t know for now is those that will be affected in the imminent purge but it is certain that some  will go.
“It is also almost certain that some of the  ministers who will still be part of the new cabinet will be redeployed.”
The ministers who were relieved of their appointments in September  were Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufa’i (Education); Prof. Ita Okon Ekwa (Science and Technology); Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru (Foreign Affairs); Hadiza Mailafia (Environment); Dr. Shamsudeen Usman (National Planning) and Ama People (Housing, Lands and Urban Development).
Others were Minister of State, Defence, Chief Olushola Obada; Minister of State, Agriculture, Alhaji Bukar Tijani  and Minister of State, Power, Zainab Kuchi.
It will be recalled that Oduah had been in the eye of the storm since last year over  the N255m BMW bulletproof cars bought for her by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

I Can Act Nude For $50m? Nollywood Actress, Amanda Ebeye

I Can Act Nude For $50m? Nollywood Actress, Amanda Ebeye
    amanda-360x227
Nollywood actress, Amanda Ebeye in an interview tells why she does more of soap operas than Nollywood movies.
You became popular in the television series, Clinic Matters; is there any difference between you and the character you portrayed in the soap?
Yes, it’s a world of difference between the character, Abigail and I. Abigail is known to be very nosy, she is two-faced and has issues and controversy surrounding her. She also gossips a lot. I talk but not to the detriment of other people. I was only portraying a character to the best of my understanding at that time.
But do you gossip, and are you temperamental in real life as you act in the soap opera?
Yes. I could be a little bit temperamental but not a big time gossip like Nurse Abigail. I talk too but who doesn’t? I can never scandalise, lie or bring people down; never. On several occasions I’ve had a lot of people say, maybe when I get upset, I yell. They assume I am just as Nurse Abigail in reality.
It is very funny because whatever I portray is what I would have done if I was truly that character. It is not who I am. If I was a gossip, a liar, a prostitute, a pilot; it is all in my head, it is my imagination, my creation and not who I am in real life. But when people talk like that, I feel honoured because I feel I gave the character my best shot.
Why do you do more of soaps than movies?
There was a time I stopped doing movies and concentrated on soap operas. That was between 2009 and 2011. And since 2011, I have been doing strictly movies apart from Bella’s Place that is owned by Royal Roots.
    Can you act nude?
I cannot act nude but like I have said before, if you pay me about $50m, I will. Please who is the first to pay?

EXPOSED: Dirty Secrets About Nollywood Actors and Actresses Revealed

EXPOSED: Dirty Secrets About Nollywood Actors and Actresses Revealed

One of the organizers of Nollywood awards has exposed the dirty secrets of many actresses in the Nollywood movie industry and how they pay to get awards.
Hear what one of them said recently, “It depends on how you hold yourself. I remember in the third edition when the nominees list came out, one actress sent somebody to call me and offer me money in order for her to win.
I told the person that the money they offered me wouldn’t change my life in any way. It is just the money I could spend in less than 24 hours. If I collect money from anybody, before the next award, the person would easily tell a nominee to just go and pay a certain amount to me if she or he wanted to win. We have a long way to go.
Award ceremony is very sensitive. Once you get it wrong the first time, you are doomed. There is no second chance. Because of that, I cannot collect money from anybody. But then again, I noticed that once the nominee’s list comes out, some people start giving us jobs for our other businesses.”

Ronaldo Dethrones Messi as World Player of Year

It did not matter that the voting went mostly as expected; Cristiano Ronaldo cried anyway.
Ronaldo, the star forward for Portugal and Real Madrid, broke down in tears on Monday night after being named FIFA’s world player of the year. He beat the Barcelona maestro Lionel Messi, who won the award the previous four years, and Franck Ribéry, the indomitable French midfielder for Bayern Munich.
Ronaldo, who scored 66 goals in 56 games last year, did not win a team trophy (Ribéry won five with Munich), but he did lead his national team to a place in the World Cup with a memorable performance against Sweden in the European playoffs. That star turn, in which Ronaldo scored all four of Portugal’s goals in the two-leg matchup, came — coincidentally — just as FIFA extended the voting period for the year-end award, citing an unusually low response rate in the balloting.
That extension surely helped, though considering Ronaldo’s productive scoring, as well as Messi’s injury-plagued season and Ribéry’s lack of gaudy statistics, his victory in the voting of national team coaches and captains and select journalists was largely expected. Ronaldo received 1,365 points, Messi 1,205 and Ribéry 1,127.

In truth, the player closest to Ronaldo in sheer quality, at least recently, was not on the final ballot: Liverpool’s Luis Suárez, who has scored 22 goals in 16 English Premier League games this season. Suárez received only two first-place votes, but each came from a teammate. In other voting oddities, neither Messi nor Ronaldo listed the other in his top three, and Jurgen Klinsmann, the United States coach, left off both: Klinsmann voted for Ribéry, Gareth Bale of Wales and the Colombian striker Radamel Falcao.
Nonetheless, Ronaldo was ecstatic after his name was called at the end of FIFA’s annual gala in Zurich. He dabbed at his eyes and was embraced by the Brazilian legend Pelé after the announcement. Ronaldo brought his young son, also named Cristiano, to the stage with him.
“I am very happy; it is very difficult to win this award,” he said. “It is a tremendously emotional moment.”
While Ronaldo’s victory was not especially dramatic, the naming of the World XI — a global all-star team of sorts that is based on votes from as many as 50,000 professional players around the world — was emblematic of a growing parity among the top international teams.
In the past, the World XI had been dominated by Spanish and Brazilian players, with last year’s edition being almost comically Iberian: all 11 players played in Spain, and 10 of the 11 played for either Real Madrid or Barcelona.
This year, however, for the first time since the World XI’s inception in 2005, Germany was represented among the all-stars. The inclusion of Philipp Lahm, Manuel Neuer and Ribéry was fitting; after all, many observers saw last year’s Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund as a symbol of the fast-rising stature of German soccer heading into this summer’s World Cup.
Lahm, Neuer and Ribéry were not the only Munich representatives honored; Jupp Heynckes, who retired after Munich’s sterling season, was also named the coach of the year.
“Maybe 10 years ago I wouldn’t even have dreamt of this,” said Heynckes, who saw Munich drop only 2 points in the second half of the season and clinch the Bundesliga title in April. “I am humbled and happy to be standing here.”
Perhaps the biggest stunner of the evening came during the announcement of the women’s player of the year. Abby Wambach, the United States national team’s productive forward and the winner of the award in 2012, figured to be favored along with Brazil’s Marta. But Germany goalkeeper Nadine Angerer won for the first time.
“I have to say that I’m a little surprised,” Angerer said.
