Timi Frank: There’s A Fresh Plot To Arraign Saraki Over 2019 Presidency

Former Deputy National Publicity of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, says that the presidency has ordered the police and a foremost anti-graft agency to arraign Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, in court this week over false charges.
Mr Frank, said the planned arraignment of Saraki on cooked-up charges is part of a renewed onslaught by the presidency and the leadership of the APC against Saraki who recently declared his intention to contest for President in the 2019 General Elections.

2019 general elections: PDP already conceding defeat, says APC

The All Progressives Congress(APC) says the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is already conceding defeat ahead of the 2019 elections by taking undue interest in the mode of primaries the APC adopts to elect its candidates for the elections.
The party stated this in a statement issued by Mr Yekini Nabena, its National Publicity Secretary, on Sunday in Abuja.

The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, as well as the governors of Sokoto and Benue states, Aminu Tambuwal and Samuel Ortom respectively have been appointed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, into National Campaign Council for the governorship election in Osun State.
Saraki was appointed by the PDP to chair its National Campaign Council, while Tambuwal and Ortom are members of the council.

The Nigeria Police on Monday, denied reports that some of its personnel on special duties, protested at the Presidential Villa, Abuja over unpaid allowances. The clarification came after some reports surfaced, claiming some officers of the Nigeria Police posted to the Presidential Villa, were protesting over unpaid allowances since 2015. The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood, in a statement obtained by Naija News said: “The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to an online news captioned ‘Villa Police Protest unpaid Allowance Since 2015.’ “The Force wishes to categorically state that salaries and allowances of police personnel across ranks throughout police formations, departments and detachments including those attached to the Presidential Villa are being paid as at when due, and on time.” “Special and ad hoc duties allowances are also promptly paid on completion of such duties”. “The report was carefully studied and was found out to be outright falsehood, unfounded, mischievous and fake news. “There was no time the policemen in the Villa or anywhere else in the country protested over any issue relating to payment of allowances or whatsoever.” Share

The police boss said that the country was far below the UN standard of one policeman to 400 persons adding that the Federal Government had approved the recruitment of 6,000 policemen into the rank and file. “The issue of manpower is one problem the Nigeria Police Force is facing,” he said. On the attachment of policemen to private persons, Idris said that the force would review it to ensure that they worked for the general public. “There is a need for us to have a police that will work for the generality of Nigerians,” he said. He said that he had directed police commissioners and zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, to compile the number of policemen attached to individuals in the country. Newsmen report that President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 directed that police personnel attached to unauthorized and some prominent persons in the country be withdrawn and deployed to confront the security challenges in the nation. The Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), Mr Mike Okiro, said that more than 150,000 policemen were attached to unauthorized persons and Very Important Personalities (VIPs) in the country. He said that the meeting was aimed at having a comprehensive resolution on the issue of illegal firearms in the country. Idris noted that the alleged arming of militia groups by state governments and individuals was not in the interest of the country. He urged the commissioners of police to embark on campaign against illegal firearms in their various commands. Idris said that plans were underway to construct an armoury for the storage of illegal firearms seized from militias across the country.
